A candidate who relies on Moscow’s community to be her guide

MEET HAILEY

About-Hailey-Lewis-Moscow-City-Council

Hailey is a Gritman baby, a proud product of Moscow School District 281, U of I Vandal, and an SEL employee-owner. She grew up attending the Latah County Historical Society’s ice cream socials with her grandma Karen, rafting the Lower Salmon with her grandpa Craig, catching countless movies at the Kenworthy with friends, and listening to many nights of music at Rendezvous in the Park.

Moscow townies elected Hailey in November 2021 to a seat on the Moscow City Council. Serving her hometown in this capacity has been an incredible honor.

When asked, “Did you always know you wanted to run for office?” Hailey’s answer is, “Sort of.” The signs were all there, though: she enthusiastically campaigned to be a seventh and eighth-grade class representative at Moscow Junior High School. Then as a student at Moscow High School, she participated in American Legion’s Girls State and was all-in on student government. While at the University of Idaho, she participated in higher education advocacy at the Capitol in Boise. For more than five years, she has focused her career on monitoring and analyzing policy in the state of Idaho for Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. Her work centers on identifying rulemaking and legislation that undermine free market principles and create challenges for the business community.

She is passionate about making sure Moscow is a welcoming community to all.

Hailey attends as many community events as she can, and rafts, skis, reads, or naps whenever the right conditions present themselves. You can often find her strolling downtown with her husband, Garrett and their rescue pups Ringo the Schnoodle, and Biscuit the Terrier/gremlin.
